Basic Drawing Fundamentals Class at Catalyst

Join me for two, three-hour drawing fundamentals classes at Catalyst, the art school at Art Supply Warehouse in Westminster, Orange County, California. This will be perfect for beginners and those who want to refresh their skills.  

When and Where:

Part A: Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM PDT 

Drawing 101 Part A is Intended for people who are beginners, or those who want to refresh or hone their skills in drawing and painting. We will learn by using basic forms, basic mark making, line definitions, perspective, reference measuring, and more. We will use familiar media, like pencil and charcoal, to learn some of the traditional building blocks of how to draw. Enjoy a relaxed and encouraging teaching style to get you on your way to better seeing and better drawings.

Part B: Sunday, January 19, 2025, at 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM PDT 

 Drawing 101 Part B builds upon the skills learned from Part 1 and advances towards rendering everyday objects. In Part Two, we will learn to draw more complex shapes based upon the primary shapes learned in Part One, plus we will discuss ellipses, lighting, and composition. Part Two is intended for people who are beginners with some experience, or those who want to refresh or hone their skills in drawing and painting. Attending Part One is not required but it is recommended that beginners take Part One before taking Part Two.

• A pad of 18 x 24 newsprint
• 4B drawing pencils or Vine Charcoal
• A drawing board with clip to hold the paper.
• One kneaded eraser
